Church Renewal

Church Renewal

Healthy churches grow, reach new people, and remain engaged in the Great Commission. But over time, many churches face seasons where ministry becomes more difficult. Attendance may decline, leadership may be stretched thin, or the surrounding community may have changed dramatically.

Church revitalization is about renewing the mission and health of an existing church so it can once again thrive in reaching people with the Gospel.

The Pulaski Baptist Association desires to walk alongside churches that may be asking important questions about their future. Through partnership with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and the North American Mission Board, we can help churches assess their ministry, identify opportunities for renewal, and develop a path forward that strengthens their Gospel impact.

When Might a Church Consider Revitalization?

Every church is unique, but some common indicators include:

  • Attendance has been declining for several years

  • The church is struggling to reach people in the surrounding community

  • Leadership roles are difficult to fill

  • The congregation senses that change may be needed but is unsure where to begin

  • The church desires to refocus on mission and discipleship

Recognizing these challenges is not a sign of failure…it is often the first step toward renewal.

What Does Revitalization Look Like?

Revitalization can take many forms depending on the church’s needs. It may include:

  • A ministry and community assessment

  • Leadership coaching and encouragement for pastors

  • Developing a renewed mission and strategy for the church

  • Training in evangelism, discipleship, and outreach

  • Partnership with other churches for encouragement and support

  • Exploring new models of ministry that better serve the surrounding community

The goal of revitalization is not simply to restore past attendance, but to help churches rediscover their mission and engage their community with the Gospel.

Walking Forward Together

Revitalization is not something a church has to navigate alone. The Pulaski Baptist Association is committed to walking with churches through seasons of renewal, helping connect them with the resources, coaching, and partnerships needed to strengthen their ministry for the future.
